Sovietinė fizinio auklėjimo sistema turėjo 3 kryptis: bendrojo fizinio rengimo (kūno kultūros pamokos, pratybos mokyklose, bendrojo fizinio rengimo grupės, sekcijos), taikomojo fizinio rengimo ir sportinio rengimo. Sovietinė fizinio auklėjimo sistema buvo įgyvendinama per privalomąsias ir savarankiškas pratybas.
